Abby Young

Abby K. Young, 61, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Monday morning, June 25, 2012 in the Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

Abby was born in Bellefontaine March 17, 1951, to Kenneth L. Thomas and Phyllis Lile Thomas. She married James “Jamie” Young March 16, 1983 in Zanesfield, Ohio.

Abby is survived by her husband James “Jamie” Young of Bellefontaine; her mother, Phyllis (Bill) Thomas-Guthrie of Bellefontaine; sons Michael T. Vance of Pickerington, Ohio and Marcus W. (Olivia) Vance of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Kenneth L. (Angela) Thomas of Galena, Ohio; her sister, InaLee (Long) Thomas-Tan of Johnstown, Ohio; 2 granddaughters Hannah and Kayla Vance; her niece and nephew Gabrielle and Brendan Tan. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth L. Thomas, her first husband, Michael R. Vance, her daughter, Amy Irene Vance and a daughter-in-law, Tessa M. Vance.

Abby and her mother Phyllis taught at the Lile School of Dance & Gymnastics and also owned Abby’s Young Land Preschool. She was certified from Dance Masters of America and received a degree in Early Childhood Development from Edison College. She enjoyed animals, especially horses and enjoyed working with and teaching children.

The funeral service will be held Friday, June 29, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at the Lile School of Dance & Gymnastics 1645 Co. Rd. 18 in Bellefontaine, with Pastor Ron Irick officiating. Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 28, 2012, at the dance studio from 2 to 4 P.M. & 6 to 8 P.M. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Bellefontaine.
