Alberta Herring

Alberta Velda Herring, 92, of Douglasville, GA and formerly of Bellefontaine passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in the Wellstar Cobb Hospital, Austell, Georgia.

She was born in Bellefontaine on September 27, 1924, the daughter of the late Lee Pearl and Marie Grace (Kelly) Vance.

On May 20, 1944, in Bellefontaine, she married Simon Edward Herring and he preceded her in death on January 31, 2003. She is also preceded in death by a son, Douglas A. Herring, a sister, Agnes Godfrey, and three brothers, Bruce, Wallace, and Gerald Vance.

She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Marie (Kerry) Haynes of Douglasville, GA and a son, Robert J. (Josephine) Herring of Fairborn, OH, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a sister, Margaret Ann Chapman of Bellefontaine and several nieces and nephews.

Alberta was a beautician and owned and managed the Magic Mirror Salon for 42 years. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Bellefontaine and enjoyed crocheting.

Pastor Jeffory Willetts will officiate a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2016 in the Oakdale Cemetery, Marysville. Visitation will be on Thursday from Noon – 1 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St. Bellefontaine.
