Alice Blackwell

Alice V. Blackwell, 82, of DeGraff, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 8 A.M. in her home.

She was born in Copley, West Virginia March 26, 1930, a daughter of the late James and Martha (Messenger) Burkhammer. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Margie and Emogene Burkhammer and brothers, Jim and Clarence Burkhammer.

On August 12, 1973 in Bellefontaine, Ohio, she married Herbert Wayne Blackwell and he preceded her in death May 4, 1977.

Survivors include daughters, Sandy Jordan of Kenton, Ohio, Joyce (Mike) Barthauer of DeGraff, Ohio; a son, Chuck (Ritsuko) Jenkins of West Mansfield, Ohio; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy (Russell) Wampler of Marysville, Ohio; brothers, Joseph (Pam) Burkhammer of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Thomas F. (Jean) Burkhammer of DeGraff, Ohio, Willie (Phyllis) Burkhammer of Russells Point, Ohio, Raymond V. (Jeannie) Burkhammer of North Lewisburg, Ohio and Jerry Burkhammer of Bellefontaine, Ohio.

She was a retired LPN and a member of the VFW Post #1080, Frank D. Castle, in Bellefontaine and was past commander of the DAV. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and making cakes.

Pastor A. W. Purdin will conduct the funeral service Friday, May 4, 2012 at 3 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where friends may call two hours prior to the service starting at 1 P.M. Interment will be at the Bellefontaine Cemetery in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
