She then began her next career of making children of all ages smile when she joined her sister-in-law at Marianna’s Doll Shop on West Columbus Avenue. She enjoyed her 10 years there, the people she met, and the closeness with Marianna and the girls. She also volunteered with the Mary Rutan Guild. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School through the years. Alice loved dancing, attending the activities of her grandchildren and playing cards, especially with her Tuesday Night Bunch, who were some of her best friends.

She is survived by her children, Jan (Tim) Smith of Bellefontaine, Judy Lambert of St. Croix, USVI, Jeff Hughes of Marathon Shores, Florida, LeeAnn Lusby of Bellefontaine, Gene (Marty) Hughes of Weeki Wachee, Florida, David Hughes (Kandi) of Clermont, Florida, sister-in-law Marianna Watkins with Cassie, Buddy, Tim, and Tom (whom she loved dearly), and special niece Cheryl Toschlog of Richmond, Indiana. She had 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
