Allen Mills Detwiler

Allen Mills Detwiler, 91, of Columbus, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023, at his residence.

He was born in Champaign County, Ohio on June 29, 1932, the son of the late Howard Edward and Alice (Johnson) Detwiler.  He was also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Daniel “Fred” and Phyllis Detwiler, and a niece, Tammy Detwiler.

On August 4, 1951, he married Phyllis (Pickering) Detwiler, and she survives.

He is also survived by two daughters, Margie (Craig) Sears, and Janet (Larry) Lawson, a grandson, Nicholas (Jen) Lawson, four great grandchildren; Westen, Brecken, Lettie, and Collins, and a nephew, Danny Detwiler.

Allen was a 1951 graduate of Salem High School and was a 1959 graduate of Columbus Barber College.  He worked both as a Barber and a farmer. He enjoyed woodworking and shooting sporting clays and loved to spend time outdoors, especially with his family at the “Family Woods.”

Pastor Don Hilkerbaumer will officiate a funeral service on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 101 Zanesfield Road, West Liberty, Ohio 43357.  Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home and burial will be in Kings Creek Cemetery, Champaign County.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
