Alma Louise Devore, 93, formerly of Middleburg passed away Saturday afternoon, February 21, 2015 at Green Hills Care Center. She was born in Marysville on May 5, 1921 to the late Walter and Nelle (Westfall) Meeks. Louise married Lee Robert Devore in Bellefontaine on September 3, 1943 and he preceded her in death on May 20, 1991. She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, LouAnne Devore in 2011; a sister, Thelma Lease; and a brother Edgar Meeks.
Louise was a 1939 graduate of Middleburg High School. She worked several years in the Recorder’s Office for Logan County. In 1945, with her husband, they purchased the Middleburg Sohio gas station and together they operated that until 1985. They also sold fertilizer, seed and chemicals from 1945 until 1990. In her spare time, Louise enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, cooking and canning. She was a member of Hi-Point Church of Christ.
Louise is survived by her son, Robert (Jackie Smith) Devore of Middleburg; grandchildren, Rob (Omar Elhaj) Devore of Streetsboro and Jean (Camilla Aukerman) Devore of Zanesfield; a great-grandchild, Alex Devore; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, West Liberty on Thursday, February 26, 2015 from 4-7pm. Pastor Mike Sandlin will officiate the funeral service on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the funeral home at 11am. Burial will follow in Middleburg Cemetery.
