Alma Mae Helmlinger, 87, of Jackson Center, Ohio passed away peacefully at 6:55 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2021 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born June 21, 1933 in Botkins, Ohio, a daughter of the late Otto H. and Carrie Alma (Metz) Alexander.
On May 28, 1955, Alma Mae married Richard R. Helmlinger in Jackson Center and preceded her in death January 6, 2019. She was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Kate (Robert) Stewart.
Alma Mae is survived by her two daughters, Debra (Gary) Hereld and Pamela Mitchell; three grandchildren, Anthony (Allison) Hereld, Rachel (fiancé Tim Good) Wells and Dustin (Patricia) Mitchell; seven great grandchildren, Sienna Borger, Drew Hereld, Mason Hereld, Luke Yerkey, Chance Hereld, Deja Wells and Rayden Wells; two great great granddaughters, Vivian Hereld and Paige Mitchell; a brother, Richard E. (Toot) Alexander and several nieces and nephews.
Alma Mae had worked for People’s Federal in Sidney, Airstream, and the Village of Jackson Center for seventeen and a half years years. She was a member of the St. Jacob Lutheran Church in Jackson Center where she taught Sunday School for fifty years and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of Sweet Adelines International for forty five years and volunteered at the Jackson Center Elementary School. Alma Mae also volunteered many years at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney.
Pastor David Sanders will officiate a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2021 at the St. Jacobs Lutheran Church in Jackson Center.
Burial will be in St. Jacob Lutheran Church Cemetery in Jackson Center, Ohio.
The staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Jackson Center is honored to serve the Helmlinger family.
