Alma Elizabeth Markley, 82, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2009 at her residence. She was born on January 11, 1927 in Morgantown, West Virginia, to the late John & Wilhelmine Ernst Kraus.
On August 16, 1952, she married William Robert Markley in Morgantown, West Virginia, and he preceded her in death on October 12, 2006. Also preceding her in death was a brother, John Kraus, Jr.
She is survived by one son, William Robert (Camila) Markley Jr. of Bellefontaine; 5 daughters, Cynthia Markley of Cincinnati, Ohio, Karen Markley of Houston, Texas, Linda (Mark) Nelson of Springboro, Ohio, Janet Markley of Bellefontaine, and Mary (Craig) Brown of Humble, Texas; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Alma was a teacher at the Bellefontaine High School and a substitute teacher for the Logan County School System. A member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine, she was a 1944 graduate of Morgantown High School and a graduate from West Virginia University in 1947, where she also in 1949, received her Master’s Degree. Alma enjoyed knitting, cooking and loved to talk about her grandchildren.
A celebration of life will begin at 7:30 P.M. on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine, with Rev. Patrick Sheridan presiding.
