Amy Alberta Legge, 90, of West Liberty passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 in her daughter’s home in Urbana.

She was born in St. Paris, OH on April 24, 1925, the daughter of the late Ernest W. and Mildred Beulah (Shaffer) Barbee. On August 31, 1940, she married David F. Legge in Greenup, KY and he preceded her in death on August 10, 2004.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Ernest J. (Pat) Barbee and sister and brother-in-law, Eva (Bus) Blakeman, one grandchild and one great grandchild.

She is survived by her three children; David C. (Judy) Legge of West Liberty, Litha L. (James) Parker of Urbana, and Jackie L. (Mike) Schmidt of Urbana, seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 11 step great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren, a sister in law, Inez Legge of West Liberty, a special friend, Mary Lou Hildreth of Urbana, and several nieces and nephews.

Amy worked as a secretary for Mercy Hospital in Urbana from 1963 until her retirement in 1987. She loved to quilt as well as reading books and doing Word Searches. While she was still able to do so, she loved to spend time gardening.

Pastor Paul Forrey will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 101 Zanesfield Road, West Liberty, OH 43357. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Jenkins Chapel Cemetery, Champaign County.

Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, West Liberty assisted the family with arrangements.
