Anna May Jenkins, 86, of Urbana, passed away at 11:55 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2016 at Mercy McAuley Center in Urbana. She was born in Delta, Ohio on May 7, 1929 to the late Michael and Mary (Tilton) Melah.
On March 5, 1949, Anna married Melvin Jenkins in West Liberty, and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2005. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dave Gentis; two sisters, Ruth King and Rosella Buroker; and two infant brothers.
Anna is survived by her four daughters, Beverly (Ron) Maurice, Linda (Art) Flicker, Peggy Gentis and Nancy (Tim) Sample; two sons, Dennis (Wanda) Jenkins and Jeff (Cindy) Jenkins; 11 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews.
A homemaker, Anna was a member of the West Liberty Presbyterian Church, Homemaker Extension Club and card club. She had worked as a teacher’s aide at Urbana Local Schools, helped raise money for the Cancer Society and volunteered at Mercy Hospital.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 3, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 101 Zanesfield Road, West Liberty. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 4th at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty.
