Annabelle Hostetler, 88, of West Liberty, was taken home to Heaven at 5:15 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Green Hills Care Center in West Liberty. She was born in Champaign County, Ohio on November 3, 1926 to the late W. Howard and Anna S. (King) Shumaker.
On February 27, 1947 she married Donald F. Hostetler, and he survives along with their three daughters; Linda (Lynn) Bontrager of Cambridge, Kathy (Dave) May of Elida and Debbie (Dale) Yoder of Belleville, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren: Jody (Julie) May, Brian (Crissy) Bontrager, Karl (Andrea) Bontrager, Tyson May, Daniel Yoder, Dustin (Ashley) Yoder, and Denise Yoder; five great-grandchildren: Noah Bontrager, Michael Bontrager, Annabelle Grace Bontrager, Lainey Bontrager, and Jackson May; two sisters, Wanda Shumaker of West Liberty and Jeanette (Kenneth) Hostetler of Bellefontaine; a brother, William (Eleanor) Shumaker of West Liberty; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who were very special to her.
Annabelle was a loving, giving, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Her greatest joy and delight was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Annabelle and Donald faithfully attended many of their grandchildren’s activities throughout the years. After they left the farm and moved to West Liberty, she enjoyed walking through town, and liked to visit with her friends, and cared deeply about the people she met, including her most recent friends, her Green Hills family.
Annabelle was a 1944 graduate of West Liberty High School and a member of the West Liberty United Church of Christ. She faithfully farmed alongside Donald for 40 years. She was a West Liberty rural mail carrier for 25 years, and an avid wallpaper hanger for 40 years.
Rev. Paul E. Forrey will officiate a private burial service at Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty prior to a Celebration of Life service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 3rd at the West Liberty United Church of Christ, 212 W. Newell Street, West Liberty, Ohio 43357. Visitation will be from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 on Friday, Jan. 2nd at the church.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in West Liberty.
