Annabelle Kiplinger Verbsky, age 97, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, went home to the Lord Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Green Hills Community in West Liberty, Ohio.

Ann was born September 29, 1916 in Albion, Ohio. Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband Art; her parents, Benton L. and Emma Mae (Keen) Kiplinger; sisters Lola Hisey, Maple Kiplinger, and Eileen Reynolds, and brothers Marlowe Kiplinger and Gerald Kiplinger.

Ann is survived by two children, Dr. Bill (Judy) Verbsky, Mrs. Linda Durieux, both of Bellefontaine, and a sister, Rosemary (Mac) Bright of Ashland, Ohio. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Chuck (Sharyl) Verbsky of Mentor, Ohio, Mark (Babette) Verbsky of Lebanon, Ohio, Dr. Matt (Ellen) Verbsky of Bellefontaine, Beth Anne (Charlie) Broschart of Hilliard, Ohio, and Dr. Jenni Durieux (Dr. Siler Panowski) of Berkeley, California; thirteen great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren.

Mrs. Verbsky graduated from Ashland University and Kent State University. She taught school in Ashland and Medina Counties and in Mentor. She married Arriton L. Verbsky on August 18, 1956, and they were long-time residents of both Mentor and Ashland, Ohio. She was an associative member of the Mentor United Methodist Church and Christ United Methodist Church of Ashland. She moved to Bellefontaine in 2006, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bellefontaine.

Ann was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star Willoughby 202, Delta Kappa Gamma, various clubs for women and music clubs, and actively served her church on committees, teaching Sunday school, and in leadership roles. She believed in supporting community causes, and enjoyed sewing, making quilts, baking, and gardening. She was devoted to her family.

Ann's family would like to thank the Logan County Health nurses for their tender loving care. Art and Ann called their nurses their angels. The family would also like to thank the staff at Green Hills and Universal Hospice for their excellent care.

A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Bellefontaine Friday, June 6, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. where calling hours will be two hours prior to the service. Interment will be at a later date at the Mentor Cemetery in Mentor, Ohio.

The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements.
