Anthony Peter Ferraro Jr., age 79, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away Friday, July 11, 2014 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine.
He was born April 11, 1935 in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the son of the late Anthony Peter and Dorothy (White) Ferraro. He was also preceded in death by his former wife, Pauline Rousseau; one brother and one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Edna (Russell) Hill Ferraro, whom he married April 23, 2012 in Lima, Ohio as well as his children, Linda Ferraro of Malone, New York, Steven Ferraro of Jackson, New Jersey, Jennifer (Yvette Nary) Ferraro of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Heather (Stuart) Johnson of Trefin, United Kingdom; his step children, Diana (Randy) Cox, Mary (Mark) Niles, Michael Rousseau, Lisa (James) Sword, all of Malone, New York, Zana Rousseau of North Bangor, New York, Michelle Hill, Sean Hill, and Russell Hill, all of Bellefontaine; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Joan Wilkinson of Pennsylvania; two sisters-in-law, Maria Ferraro of Wapakoneta, Ohio and Melissa (Alan) Collins of Miamisburg, Ohio; a brother-in-law, William Russell of Englewood, Ohio; his former wife, Dianna Ferraro; numerous nieces and nephews, and his ‘baby’ and canine companion, Holly.
Anthony was raised Catholic and at the age of 18, enlisted into the United States Marine Corp where he served his country until 1957 when he was honorably discharged. He graduated that same year from the U.S. Armed Forces Institute and then went to work as a chemical operator for several companies in New Jersey until 1972. He later worked as a bus driver.
He was fan of Notre Dame Athletics as well as the New York Mets baseball team. He enjoyed music, especially jazz and studied astronomy and the planets. He was very proud of the time served in the United States Marine Corp and supported other service men and women around the world.
A Catholic Chaplain will officiate a graveside service at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the Dayton National VA Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio with military honors.
The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements.
