Arthur E. “Doody” Knox, 63, of Huntsville, Ohio, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2010, as the result of an automobile accident. He was born March 18, 1947 in Urbana, Ohio, to the late Pearl LeRoy Knox and Doris Levon (Spain) Wessel, who survives in Bellefontaine.
He is also survived by his wife, Melissa Hoffer Knox, whom he married November 18, 2000 in Bellefontaine. Also surviving are his children, Arthur E. (Jami Adkins) Knox, Jr. of Bellefontaine and Tommy Knox and Paige Knox both at home; his siblings, Pearl (Joni) Knox Jr., Michael Knox, Randy (Terri) Knox, Kermit Knox, Della Scott, Sharon (Jerry) Hoge, Patricia Pinks, Juanitta Perdue, Carol (James) Simpson, and Kimberly Knox all of Bellefontaine, and four grandchildren, Tyler, Jacob, Kyra, and Kayla.
He was preceded in death by a son, Travis Knox, August 14, 2009.
A self-employed mechanic, Doody was an United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Bellefontaine Moose Lodge and Eagles. He enjoyed working with the Special Olympics and at Adriel School.
Calling hours are from 5 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. The funeral service will be at the funeral home at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, December 23, 2010 with visitation from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. prior to the service.
