Arthur L. Newcomer

Arthur L. Newcomer, age 81, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 15, 2019 at his home.

He was born August 18, 1937 in Manor Township, Pennsylvania to the late Norman and Ida (Leaman) Newcomer. In addition to his parents, Art was also preceded in death by his brother Earl Newcomer.

On August 19, 1961, Art married Mary Rosenberger in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, and she survives along with their two children, Maria Gleason of Findlay, Ohio and Sam (Ana) Newcomer of Alpharetta, Georgia; four grandchildren, Ty Gleason, Tara Gleason, Alexandra Newcomer, and Michael Newcomer; two sisters, Elsie Charles and Miriam (James) Haverstick; a brother, Ed Newcomer and many nieces and nephews.

A member of the Bethel Mennonite Church in West Liberty, Ohio Art had worked as a social worker, realtor, insurance/financial planner, and basketball official. Throughout his life, he possessed a lifelong interest for gardening, sports, and traveling. Art was currently serving as chairperson for the West Liberty Historical Society Opera House Renovation Committee.

Pastor Rebecca Kauffman will officiate a memorial service at 4:30 P.M. Sunday, June 23, 2019 at the Bethel Mennonite Church in West Liberty, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 P.M.

The arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in West Liberty.
