Barbara “Grandma” Coblentz, 98, of Belle Center, Ohio went to be with her Lord Thursday, June 27, 2013, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Edna and Jonas Hershberger.
She was born July 12, 1914, to the late Pete H. and Katie (Miller) Shrock of Hartville, Ohio. Barbara married Henry A. Coblentz July 11, 1931, and his death December 13, 1966, left her a widow for forty seven years.
Barbara was a member of the Belle Center Amish Church. She loved to quilt, crochet and while helping with catering – she enjoyed serving meals. She was known by many as “Grandma.”
She is survived by three sons, Albert (Ada) Coblentz of Homeworth, Ohio, Leroy Coblentz of Senecaville, Ohio and Elmer (Rose) Coblentz of Philipsburg, Montana; four daughters, Edna (Jonas) Hershberger of Huntsville, Ohio, Barbara Ann (Ernest) Lumley of Bracey, Virginia, Emma (Harvey) Yoder of Sarasota, Florida, and Ada (Henry) Coblentz of Etowah, North Carolina; fifty-five grandchildren; two hundred and eight great-grandchildren; one hundred fifty three great-great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Chris Coblentz of Milroy, Indiana; two brothers, Mose Shrock of Greenville, Pennsylvania and Sam Schrock of Hartville, Ohio; a sister, Lydiann Weaver of Milroy, Indiana, and a host of relatives and friends.
Barbara was also preceded in death by a son Henry “Sonny” Coblentz of Townville, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Sarah Coblentz of Milroy, Indiana; a step-mother; four brothers, Noah, Henry, John and Enos Shrock; four sisters, Edna Gingerich, Sarah Hershberger, Katie Swartzentruber and Anna Troyer; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, June 30, 2013 at 9:30 A.M. at the David Hochstetler residence 7818 Co. Rd. 49 Belle Center, Ohio with Bishop Marcus Schlabach officiating.
Viewing will be at the Jonas Hershberger residence Friday evening, June 28, 2013 at 6 P.M. and all day and evening Saturday, June 29, 2013. Additional viewing will be Sunday evening, June 30, 2013 at the Hartville Conservative Mennonite Church on Market Ave. in North, Hartville, Ohio.
Graveside services and interment will be Monday, July 1, 2013 at 10 A.M. at the Walnut Grove Amish Cemetery in Hartville, Ohio.
The staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Belle Center assisted the family with the arrangements.
