Barbara J. Moffitt

Barbara J. Moffitt, age 91, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away at 11:30 P.M. Saturday, December 22 at the Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima, Ohio.

She was born in Dayton, Ohio August 16, 1927, to the late Foster and Thelma Doughman.

On June 8, 1947, Rev. Robert Wearley married Barbara and Than W. Moffitt in West Liberty, Ohio. Than preceded Barbara in death February 7, 2011.

Barbara is survived by a son, Roderick (Connie) Moffitt of Defiance, Ohio and a daughter, Janice (Jeff) Short of Akron, Ohio; five grandsons, Matthew (Christine), Charles, William (Julie), Dustyn Moffitt (Monique), Steve Walters (Gail) and one granddaughter, Wendy (Larry) Langston. There are also nine great grandchildren, Aiden, Mia, Billy, Annabelle, Brandon, Andrew, Katie, Everleigh Moffitt and Chloe Langston and a sister, Nadyne Bodey of Lakeview, Ohio.

Barbara was a graduate of Fairview High School in the Dayton, Ohio area. She and her husband were members of the Belle Center Methodist Church. Barbara retired from D.A.B. in Bellefontaine and was a member of Eastern Star #459, the Women’s Club of Belle Center, the Indian Lake Moose Lodge, the Logan County Friendly Senior Citizens, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Dayton Eintracht German Club. She enjoyed bowling and polka dancing with her husband. They travelled the United States and Europe following polka bands such as Marv Herzog and Hank Haller and Bette’s Polka Band. She also enjoyed blue grass music by the Mac-O-Chee Valley Folks.

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 30, 2018 from 2 to 5 P.M. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.

Pastor Dean Wasson will officiate the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 31, 2018 at the funeral home.

Entombment will follow the funeral service at the the Highland Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum in West Liberty.

The arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
