Beatrice (Bea) Chambers, 98, of West Liberty passed away Saturday morning, May 23, 2015 at her Green Hills assisted living apartment with her family at her side. She was born in West Mansfield on August 22, 1916 to the late R. Burl and Goldie Mae (Ansley) Harvey. Beatrice married Richard G. Chambers on October 1, 1938 in Rushsylvania and he preceded her in death in 1969. She was also preceded in death by her son Gary R. Chambers, son-in-law Jim Myers, and all of her generation of brothers, sisters and their spouses.

Bea is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Mike McBride of Plain City; three grandchildren: Joe McBride of Kettering, Scott (Carol) McBride of Suwanee, Georgia and Peggy (McBride) Myers of Plain City; 2 great-grandchildren: Emily and Jared Myers and a step-great-grandson Bryan Carlton. She was loved very much by several nieces, nephews and cousins now living throughout the United States.

Bea was a teenager during the Great Depression, a 1934 graduate of Rushsylvania High School, and a student at Antioch College in Yellow Springs. She was a young wife and mother during World War II, and a full-time homemaker until the 1960’s. She was employed at G.C. Murphy in Bellefontaine until she retired in 1981. She served a term as President of the Ladies Auxiliary of Charles Kimmel Post of the American Legion. As a member of the First Christian Church of Bellefontaine and she participated in Pilot Class. Bea was named an Honor Graduate of Rushsylvania High School in 2004.

For the past seventeen years, Bea has been a resident of Green Hills Retirement Community. She enjoyed her first nine years in an independent-living apartment. The past several years of her life have been happy and complete in the assisted living facilities offered by the Green Hills Inn. Her family sends a hearty thank you to all the staff and residents who have been so helpful and such good friends to our Mother. Her family also sends a huge thank you to Senior Independence Hospice of Dayton for their marvelous nursing and spiritual assistance during the final months of Bea’s life on earth.

Pastor Blaine Keene will officiate a brief memorial service on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 2:30pm at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Bellefontaine. Visitation will follow the memorial service until 5pm. Private burial will be in Rushsylvania Cemetery at a later date.

The staff of Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Bellefontaine assisted the family with arrangements.
