Bennett Lee Wray, 76, of Bellefontaine, passed away peacefully at 6:11 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at home surrounded by his children. He was born in Belton, Kentucky on July 12, 1948, and was the son of the late George Thomas Wray and Maida Alfreidia (Rose) Wray.
Bennett is survived by his four children, Tonya (Keith) Whitaker, Kevin (Tanya) Wray, Steven (Annett) Wray, and Mary Walters; 19 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a sister, Georgia (Bob) Bell Donald; a brother-in-law, Larry Gates; a life-long friend, Bob Grilliot; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bennett was preceded in death by his sister, Vicki Ruth Gates.
Bennett had worked as a nursing aide and cosmetologist prior to his retirement. A member of the Bellefontaine Apostolic Church, he loved his chickens, gardening, and training horses.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes Street in DeGraff, where Brother Tony Coy will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery in Fletcher, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made, in Bennett’s memory, to the Bellefontaine Apostolic Church, 500 Lawrence Street, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311.
