Bernard R. DeRemer, age 94, of West Liberty, Ohio, passed away at 1:37 A.M. Friday, November 21, 2014 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine, Ohio.

He was born in West Liberty June 18, 1920, a son of the late Wilbur and Alice (Holdren) DeRemer. After his mother died in 1921, he grew up in the home of his uncle and aunt, Walter and Ruey Idle in St. Paris, Ohio. His marriage to Margaret Fontaine of Washington, D.C. resulted in a divorce after spending thirty years together. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Harlan DeRemer.

Bernard is survived by his son Andrew DeRemer; a grandson, Damon DeRemer; a step-sister, Nancy Sturgeon; a step-brother, Dick Lewis; a sister-in-law, Dolletta DeRemer; and three nephews, Randy, William and Lewis DeRemer.

A graduate of Johnson-St. Paris High School, he attended Northwestern University and Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, where he graduated president of his class. Bernard also attended Moore’s Business College in Urbana and George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He was the author of "Moody Bible Institute/A Pictorial History" and wrote and edited three other books. For several years he contributed biographies for "Pulpit Helps". His article appeared in "Power", "Sunday Digest", "Good Old Days", "Bend of The River", and most recently the "Disciple Magazine", now known as Disciple Online. For ten years he served on the staff at Moody in various editorial capacities. He also worked for the Post Office Department, IBM, and other organizations before retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Grace Chapel Church in West Liberty.

Pastor Josh Gelatt will officiate the funeral service at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in West Liberty. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2014 from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty.

The arrangements were the in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in West Liberty.
