Bertha King Kaufman

Bertha King Kaufman, age 102, of West Liberty, died on Sunday, September 1, 2019, at Logan Acres Care Center.  Bertha was at that time welcomed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, something she had looked forward to for many years.

Bertha was born in Champaign County, Ohio on December 10, 1916, a daughter of Archie and Rhoda (Yoder) Hartzler. On October 15, 1939, she married Harley E. King.  After 68 years of marriage, he preceded her in death in March of 2008.  In June of 2008, Bertha married Paul Kaufman who preceded her in death in February of 2014.  Bertha is survived by 5 children, daughter, Kathleen (Harold) Cunningham of Versailles, Kentucky; sons, David (Jerri) King of Corpus Christi, Texas, Robert (and the late, Evelyn) King of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Phillip (and the late Judy) King of Chickasaw, Alabama, and Marlin (Anita) King of Bellefontaine; 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, with 2 preceding Bertha in death.

Bertha was an active member of South Union Mennonite Church for many years and enjoyed music, singing hymns, flower gardening, and writing poetry.  She was a deeply spiritual woman who loved God and reading and meditation on the words of the Bible.  Bertha was a very diligent mother and homemaker, who was dearly loved by all her family.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 6, 2019 from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in West Liberty.

Burial will follow the visitation at the South Union Cemetery in West Liberty.

Pastor Matthew Williams will officiate the funeral service at 11:30 A.M. September 6, 2019 at the South Union Mennonite Church in West Liberty.

A meal for family and friends will be held at the church following the funeral.

The arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in West Liberty.
