Betty Louise (Broadstone) Hemphill joined her Heavenly Father on April 14, 2025, at Logan Acres, Bellefontaine, Ohio.
She was born to Wilford and Alice Broadstone on August 20, 1933, in Westville, Ohio. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hemphill; her parents; her sister, Nelva and brother-in-law, John House; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Sally Hemphill, Oris and Marion Hemphill and, her brothers, Peter and Wilford Lee Broadstone. She was sadly preceded in death by grandson, Daryl Franklin Hemphill.
She is remembered as a loving wife to Paul. They were married on June 1, 1951. The next day, Paul and seven other Logan County men left for service in the United States Army. Paul was sent to Korea for a year during the Korean War. He returned safely and completed another year of service in the United States, retiring as a corporal.
Betty was a member of the Huntsville Presbyterian Church, Huntsville, Ohio.
She will be remembered as a wise and patient Mother by her children, Dan (Jenny Langstaff) Hemphill and Donna (Keith) Stoner. She leaves behind grandchildren, David (Jenny Cole), Aryn (Andy) Forsythe and Isaac (Catherine Richmond) Stoner; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Cole Hemphill, Johnston Davis “J.D.” and Carolyn Forsythe, Mariah and Alivia Stoner. She will be remembered and missed by her many nieces and nephews.
Betty lived a life of service - to her God, her church, her Nation and her Family. Betty spent her whole life working and learning many different skills. During her marriage, she worked at Don’s Hamburger Shop, Bulldog, as a dental assistant to Dr. Fred Wood, DAB and finally retiring from Indian Lake Local Schools. Betty and Paul lived on State Route 68 north of Bellefontaine from 1959 to 2000, in the house she and Paul built. Their ranch style brick house on the curve will be remembered by many as the house with the purple clematis. They moved to Greentree Lane, Bellefontaine, in 2001. Betty was a resident of The Homestead and Logan Acres in Bellefontaine.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 306 N. Elizabeth Street, Belle Center. Rev. Ben Beres will officiate a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 19th at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Belle Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Huntsville Presbyterian Church, 6490 Fruit Street, Huntsville, Ohio 43324.
