Betty J. Evans, 79, of Bellefontaine, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Mary Rutan Hospital.

Betty was born in Delaware, Ohio, on March 27, 1943, to the late Virgil William and Cecile (Sparks) Swam.  Betty was also preceded in death by a brother Bill Swam.

Betty is survived by her longtime companion: Patrick Brown; four children:  Catherine “Micki” (Robert) Dutton, Sharon (Dave) Putney, Lauri (Richard) Gibson, and Kristi (Jack) Morris; 7 grandchildren:  Miranda (Joe) Hartzell, Tiffany (Tyler) Campbell, Ashley (Josh) Pike, Erika (Chris Estandia) Dutton, Hannah Putney, Collin Putney, and Delilah Gibson; 7 great-grandchildren; and a sister Nancy (Don) Charlton

Betty was a test driver for many years and retired from the Transportation Research Center.  She also worked at the Bellefontaine Wal-Mart for 10 years.  Betty had been a volunteer EMT for many years and enjoyed visiting the casino.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at a later date.
