Betty Johnson

Betty B. Johnson, 98, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Green Hills Center in West Liberty, Ohio.

She was born February 21, 1914 in Logan County Ohio, to the late Arthur L. and Tess (Short) Willits. On August 5, 1933 she married Samuel “Sewell” Johnson, and he preceded her in death December 2, 2003. Also preceding her in death was an infant son, Stephen Arthur Johnson, two brothers, and three sisters.

Surviving are her children, Seth (Joanna) Johnson of Port Hueneme, California, Sabra A. Hodnett of Orlando, Florida, Betsy E. Smith and Rebecca R. (Bill) Gibson, both of Bellefontaine; her grandchildren, Cathy Jo, Debby, Michael, Tammy, Donald, Heidi, Hope, Cynthia, James, Priscilla Betty Ruth and Seth; twelve great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Betty was a 1932 graduate of Monroe High School and a member of the First Christian Church in Bellefontaine, where she taught Sunday school to the young children. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother. She took care of children, loved her grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with her family. Betty also enjoyed gardening and flowers.

Gene Marine will officiate the 2:00 P.M. funeral service Thursday, November 15, 2012 at the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home in West Liberty, where friends may call from 12 noon to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church 215 E. Sandusky Ave. Bellefontaine, OH 43311 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
