Betty Jean Kossel

Betty Jean Kossel, age 83, of Jackson Center, Ohio passed away at 6:08 A.M. Thursday, August 23, 2018 at her daughter’s home. She was born in Sidney, Ohio February 24, 1935, to the late Rodney and Cora (Rhodehamel) Schloss. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Bunke; four sisters, Olga Lawrence, Norma May Schloss, Ruth Crabtree, and Melvina Curl and four brothers, Vernon Schloss, George Schloss, John Schloss, and Henry James Schloss.

On September 12, 1959, Betty married Wayne Kossel in Clay Township Ohio, and he survives along with four children, Earl (Jill) Ludwig of Montra, Kathleen (Mark) Bunke of Jackson Center, Catherine (Michael) Brown of Jackson Center, and Rebecca (Paul) Bailey of Piqua; ten grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; a sister, Minnie (Alvin) Young of Jackson Center; a brother, Larry Schloss of Sidney and many nieces and nephews.

Prior to becoming a homemaker, Betty worked as a waitress at several different restaurants. Betty attended the First United Methodist Church in Sidney and was an avid collector who enjoyed spending quality time with her family as well as the time she spent with God and reading His word. She had a strong faith and will be deeply missed by her family and those whose lives she may have touched.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 5 P.M. Sunday, August 26, 2018, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Jackson Center.

Rev. David Chivington and Rev. Ed Eillis will officiate the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 27, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Sidney, Ohio.

Burial will follow the funeral service at the Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson, Ohio.

The funeral arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Jackson Center.
