Betty Viola (Johnson) Lapp, born June 28, 1936, of West Liberty, went to be with Jesus on March 16, 2025, surrounded by her family. Betty was born in Canton, Ohio, to Robert and Grace (Noble) Johnson.
In 1948, Betty moved with her siblings to the Mennonite Children’s Home in West Liberty, Ohio. In 1954, she married Daniel A. Lapp, and he preceded her in death on November 17, 1999. Together they had five children: Gerald (Karen) Lapp, Gail Lapp, Gloria (Rick) Davis, Glenn (Julie) Lapp and Gina Loehr.
A homemaker, Betty was actively involved with her children and her church. She was a wonderful caretaker during her husband’s illness. Betty and Dan spent many winters in Okeechobee, Florida. They also enjoyed camping, fishing, and mushroom hunting. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, whether that was attending special events, playing cards, or enjoying family meals.
Betty is survived by her children; 13 grandchildren: Laura (Kevin) Centers, Lisa (Leroy) Holmes, Lacey (Durrell) Kimbrough, Jason (Gretchen) Lapp, Andrea (Chad) Claybaugh, Brittany (Eric) Warrick, Dylan (Kristen) Davis, Bradley Loehr, Andy (Mandy) Loehr, Danny (Leah) Loehr, Lindsey (Joe) Sadlier, Amber (Logan) Whitaker, and Austin (Chante) Lapp; 32 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; her brothers: Jerry (Sharon) Johnson, Bill (Diana) Culler, Bruce (Pam) Culler, Ronald (Barbara) Culler, and sister, Juanita Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Reverend Daniel Lapp, brother, Dale Culler, and her son-in-law, Doug Loehr, as well as her great grandchildren: Jacob Kemper and Layla Kimbrough.
Rev. Ron Irick will officiate a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 101 Zanesfield Road, West Liberty. Visitation will be two hours prior from 10:00 to 12:00 at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
