Betty Miracle

Betty Madlyn Miracle, 92, formerly of Belle Center, Ohio, passed away Sunday morning, February 2, 2014 at Green Hills Community in West Liberty, Ohio.

She was born June 22, 1921, in the Ammons Homestead on State Route 117 in Belle Center, to the late Stephen and Minnie (Henderson) Ammons.

On June 18, 1946, she married Donell D. “Don” Miracle in New Bloomington, Ohio and after being married for forty nine years, he preceded her in death September 4, 1995. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Floyd (Loretta), Ed (Myra), Virgil, Everett (Jo) and Robert Ammons and two sisters, Nell (Frank) Kunkle and Mary Ammons, and a brother-in-law, Dale Miracle.

Betty is survived by her son, David (Sandy) Miracle and a daughter, Beverly (Joe) Matthews, both of Belle Center; four grandchildren, Jim (Lori) Matthews, J.D. (Mindy) Miracle, Joel (Heidi) Miracle and Amy (Sam) Archer; great-grandchildren, Jarret, Macy and Davis Matthews, Trey and Delaney Miracle, Jackson Grimes and Skylar Miracle, and Austin and Lexi Archer; a step-great granddaughter, Kiersten Thornton; sister-in-laws, Jane Ammons and Rose Miracle, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty graduated from Belle Center High School in 1939, and then attended Moore’s Business College in Urbana, Ohio. She worked in Springfield, Ohio for two years, and then worked at the Belle Center Bank (Huntington National Bank) from 1943 to 1983. She was a member of the the United Methodist Church and Women’s Society, the Fides Circle of King’s Daughters, the Northfork Sew and So Club, the Mary Rutan Hospital Guild and the Logan County Friendly Seniors. She and Don spent eleven winters in Florida.

Pastor Kevin Smith will officiate the funeral service Thursday, February 6, 2014, at 4 P.M. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Belle Center, where calling hours will be from 1 P.M. to the time of the service. Interment will follow the funeral service at the Fairview Cemetery in Belle Center.
