Betty Eileen Slaughter, 87, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 7, 2009, in Logan Acres Care Center. She was born in Bellefontaine on November 6, 1921, a daughter of the late Samuel A. and Florence Lucille Brooks Carter.
On October 6, 1940, she married Robert A. Slaughter in Bellefontaine, and he preceded her in death on July 7, 1985. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Hurst, and infant twin sisters.
Survivors include two brothers, Ralph (Sandra) Carter of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Richard (Pat) Carter of Bellefontaine; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.
A 1939 Bellefontaine High School graduate, she retired from DAB after 29 years of service. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Bellefontaine, where she was a member of the missionary society. Betty was a devoted Christian who enjoyed being involved with the activities within her church and loved being with her family.
Rev. Ken Neighoff conducts the funeral service at 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2009, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where calling hours are two hours prior to the service. Interment is in Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio.
