Billy Dugan, 90, of Bellefontaine Ohio, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 16, 2012 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine.

Billy was born in Bellefontaine September 19, 1921, to the late William H. and Clara Froebe Dugan.

He married the former Gloria Jean Hughes August 22, 1942 in Blackstone, Virginia, and she preceded him in death October 19, 1991. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Cletus, Melvin and Dick Dugan, a sister Elaine Miller and an infant grandson, Kyle Dugan.

Billy is survived by his children, Thomas J. Dugan of Huntsville, Ohio and Sandra Kay Lilley of Massilon, Ohio; 2 grandchildren, Doug (Jeannie) Dugan and Michelle (Dave) Harwig, 2 great-grandchildren Keleigh May and Ayla Lilley-Brown; a great-great granddaughter Alivia May; 2 nieces and a nephew.

Billy was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II as a member of E-Company 2nd Battalion 315th Regiment 79th Infantry Division. He survived D-Day June 6, 1944 and other battles and campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. Prior to the war, Billy went to work for the New York Central Railroad, Penn Central Railroad and retired as a conductor from Conrail Railroad in 1982. He attended the First Lutheran Church in Bellefontaine and was a member of the American Legion Post #173 and was a past-member of the Elks and Lions.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine with Pastor Jonathon Bull officiating. Calling hours are Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the funeral home from 6 to 8 P.M. and one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio with veteran honors provided by the Logan County Veterans Burial Detail.
