Billy Dean Peterson, 67, of Bellefontaine, passed away Friday afternoon, August 19, 2022, at Mary Rutan Hospital.
Billy was born at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, on April 6, 1955, to Billy Shelton Peterson and Elizabeth (Johnson) Peterson.
Billy is survived by his daughter Melissa Ann Peterson of Dublin; a granddaughter Madilyn Shelton Comstock of Dublin; his mother Elizabeth Peterson of Bellefontaine; a brother Steve (Bonnie) Peterson of Bellefontaine; a sister Beth Peterson of Paso Robles California; several nieces and nephews; and his former wife Gina (Stoney) Winegardner of Bellefontaine. He was preceded in death by his father Billy Shelton Peterson.
Billy was the co-owner/operator of Classics & Cruisers with his father and brother in Bellefontaine for many years. He loved restoring old cars and bodywork. He retired in 2021 from SpartanNash after 10+ years of work. Billy enjoyed traveling with Gina and Stoney to watch their granddaughter play softball and volleyball. He also treasured the time spent with his mother feeding the birds, turkeys, and dogs that visited his porch daily. Billy was loved by many neighbors whom he considered family and will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Billy's life will be held Friday, August 26, at the Syndicate Restaurant, 213 S. Main St. Bellefontaine, from 5-7pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Billy’s granddaughter, whom he helped raise, as she is just starting her freshman year at the University of Cincinnati. Donations and words of encouragement can be mailed to Melissa Peterson, 2736 Saltergate Dr. Dublin, OH 43016, or sent via Venmo to: @MadiComstock
