Bradley S. Horton, 53, of Bellefontaine passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
Beloved husband, father, son and uncle, educator, coach, and mentor. He was born on April 10, 1963 in Harrisburg, IL, the son of Marvin B. Horton, who survives in Harrisburg and the late Sally (Smith) Horton.
He is also survived by his wife, Kandie (Lowry) Horton, whom he married on June 19, 2004 at the Hillcrest Baptist Church, Bellefontaine; three sons, Zach (Susan Kim) Horton of Columbus, Mack Horton of Columbus, and Jacob Horton of Bellefontaine; one sister and brother-in-law, Melissa and Brian Belt of Harrisburg, IL; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Kathy Lowry of West Liberty; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kim and Steve Cayot of West Liberty; nieces and nephews, Brandon Belt, Brianna Belt, Trent (Marci) Cayot, Abbi Andrews, Tori (Greg) Huffman, Taylor Cayot; and great nieces, Danielle and Leah.
Brad was the High School Principal and Athletic Director at the Christian Academy Schools in Sidney. He truly cherished being involved with his school and community in all ways. He loved seeing his students learn and grow in the classroom and improve on the field, track, and court. He coached student-athletes at Bellefontaine, Riverside, and Benjamin Logan high schools. He was especially proud of being a part of the coaching staff during Ben Logan’s first state football playoff appearance in 2016. He was an active member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church, Bellefontaine, serving on several committees and teaching Sunday School. He could be heard every Sunday harmonizing during worship.
Brad was a three-sport star athlete at Harrisburg High School. He was a four-year starter for varsity football and threw discus and shot put at Georgetown College.
Pastor Daniel McCarty will officiate a memorial service on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillcrest Baptist Church, 1505 S. Main St. Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St. Bellefontaine.
The family wishes for everyone to wear casual attire. Brad’s current and former students and players are encouraged to wear their team attire. Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine assisted the family with arrangements.
