Carl Jay “Pappy” Godwin passed away Friday evening, May 6, 2011 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine, Ohio. He was born December 27, 1930, in Roundhead, Ohio to the late Jacob Lester and Erma Ann (Neal) Godwin.

On December 27, 1951, he married Norma Palmer in Bellefontaine and she survives. Also surviving is a son Steven (Robin) Godwin, and a daughter Diana (Marvin) Lattimore, both of West Liberty, Ohio; two brothers, Wayne (Belva) Godwin and Jack (June) Godwin of Bellefontaine; four grandchildren Lyndsey Godwin, Joshua, Justin, and Jeremy Titus, and four great grandchildren. Carl was also preceded in death by a brother, Max Godwin.

He was a graduate of Huntsville High School in 1948. He was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was an outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, trap, and play horseshoes. He had worked for the Logan County Highway Department and for Accusport.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. at the Fairview Cemetery in Belle Center, Ohio with Pastor Jay Gissinger officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Logan County Honor Guard.

The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
