Carl F. Lyon, age 90, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away Friday afternoon, December 22, 2017 at Heartland of Bellefontaine. He was born in Bellefontaine May 22, 1927, to the late Herbert H. and Mary (Mowery) Lyon.
Carl married the former Glenna M. Hower May 24, 1947 in Bellefontaine, and she preceded him in death November 24, 2005. Carl was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley A. Pruett Hilliard; a grandson, Scott J. Lyon; his brothers, Herbert Lyon, Jr. and Elmer Lyon and sisters Virginia Reid and June Binkley.
Carl is survived by sons Michael F. (Laura) Lyon of Bellefontaine and Jerry C. (Susie) Lyon of Zanesfield, Ohio; three grandchildren, Christopher M. Lyon, Tracey K. (Dan) Ackley, and Amanda M. (Matt) Mershimer; nine great-grandchildren, Katelyne Ann Ackley, Hayden Daniel Scott Ackley, and Bradey Daniel Ackley, Micah Jeremy Ackley, MaCaylah Lyon, Izak Lyon, Madeliene Lyon, Shiloh Mershimer and Everly Mershimer.
Carl was a truck driver for Ohio Ready Mix for many years and retired at the age of 75. He loved being outdoors and was a loyal fan of the old Cleveland Browns.
Visitation will be held at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine Tuesday, December 26, 2017 from 4 to 6 P.M. where the funeral will be held at 6 P.M. with Pastor Floyd Lundy officiating.
A private family burial will be at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio.
