Carl Wren, Jr., age 84, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.
He was born June 29, 1930 in Houston, Ohio, to the late Carl Allen and Millie Jane (Tracy) Wren. On February 19, 1951, he married the former Norma Jean Shepherd in Indiana and she preceded him in death in June 2001. Also preceding him in death were his siblings, Wilbur and Kenny Wren, Catherine Hillard, Betty Wooten, Helen Secrist and Janet Southard.
Surviving are his children, Carl “Spike” (Deborah) Wren of Bellefontaine and their children, Carl “Adam” (Ali) Wren of Carmel, Indiana and Rachel (Brendan) Smitke of Lynchburg, Virginia; Gary (Jeannette) Wren of Bellefontaine and their children, Brandon (Audrey) Wren of Marysville, Ohio and Denver Wren of Bellefontaine; Aaron (Jennifer) Wren of Bellefontaine and their children, Aaron (Chandler) Wren of Bellefontaine, Stacie (Cody) Wren of Columbus, Ohio, Caleb Wren and Raven Wren, both of Bellefontaine; Leslie (Jim) Warne of Bellefontaine and their children, Craig Warne of Bellefontaine and Lisa Warne of Springfield, Ohio; and Kathy (Jerold “Kia”) Ansley of Ridgeway, Ohio and their children, Krista Ansley (Ted) McDonald of Ridgeway and Jennifer (Gavin) Strickland of Kenton, Ohio; ten great grandchildren; and close friends, Kit Wehe, Gordon McDonald and Sam Regula.
A 1950 West Liberty Salem High School graduate, Carl was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a 4-H leader and a member of the Bellefontaine V.F.W.
Carl was a farmer all his life and also worked at Rockwell in Bellefontaine as a machinist for thirty five years and ten years at Rockwell Boeing in Columbus retiring in 1995.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine.
Pastor Jeffory Willetts will officiate an 11:00 A.M. funeral service Monday, July 14, 2014, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Bellefontaine. Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio with military honors provided by the Logan County Veteran Honor Guard.
