Carlyn Joyce Hurley, 70, of Jackson Center passed away Wednesday evening, June 22, 2016 at Wilson Memorial Hospital. She was born in Muncie, Indiana on April 26, 1946 to the late Noble W. and Opal L. (Vail) Leffew. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Roger and Roy Loggains.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Douglas E. Hurley of Jackson Center, whom she married on August 8, 1970 at the Jackson Center Baptist Church. She is also survived by her sisters, Linda Leffew of Botkins and Betty (Bill) Scoggins of Wapakoneta; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law as well as several nieces and nephews.
Joyce was a 1965 graduate of Drew Central High School in Monticello, Arkansas. In 2002, she graduated from Edison State with an Associate of Applied Business in Commercial Art. Joyce had previously worked at Holloway Sports, Leader Sportswear, Monarch Machine & Tool and Yeasels. She enjoyed photography, reading and do-it-yourself crafts. Joyce was a life-member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Jackson Center from Noon to 2pm. Pastor David Sanders will officiate the funeral service on Monday, June 27, 2016 at 10am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pearl Cemetery, Swanders.
