Carol Ann Smith

Carol Ann Smith, 91, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 1:06 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023, at her home. She was born on August 10, 1931, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, a daughter of the late Samuel Robert and Margaret Ellen (Boase) Keith.

Carol married Lee William Smith and he preceded her in death on September 2, 1980.

Carol is survived by four children, Keith (Marilyn) Smith, Jerry (Tish) Smith, Richard (Sherry) Smith, and Linda (Frank) Shaughnessy; seven grandchildren, Kylee Smith, Bailey Smith, Steve Smith, Scott Smith, Donna Young, Naomi Ritter, and Dawn Kilbourn; three great grandchildren, Abigail Hood, Gage Church, and Haley Smith; and three great great grandchildren.

Carol was a 1949 graduate of Bellefontaine High School. She had worked for Prudential Insurance from 1949 to 1959, J.C. Penney from 1959 to 1969, Chicken Ranch from 1971 to 1978, and for Uhlman’s from 1987 to 1993. She was a member St. Patrick Church in Bellefontaine, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the St. Patrick CLC. Carol had been a volunteer with the Mary Rutan Hospital Guild.

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street in Bellefontaine, where Father Shawn Landenwitch will officiate a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Bellefontaine, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to any charity of the donor’s choice.
