Carole E. Wagner

Carole E. Wagner, age 77, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine.

She was born in San Diego, California April 19, 1940, a daughter of the late Carroll Peyton and Berenice E. (Harris) Jackson.

She married David E. Wagner August 19, 1967 at the Zanesfield United Methodist Church, and he preceded her in death October 18, 2015.

She is survived by her sister, Dee Dee (Ron) Ricketts of Zanesfield, Ohio; a sister in law, Janet Wagner of Maine; two nephews Matt (Kim) Ricketts of Centerville, Ohio and Keith Wagner of California; five nieces Beth (Doug) Lantz of Bellefontaine, Amy Ricketts of Zanesfield, Marcie Lawhon, Melinda Lloyd, and Tess (Simon) Rhodes, all of Maine; a great niece, Brittany Lantz of West Chester, Ohio; a great nephew, Blake Lantz of Columbus, Ohio and several cousins and many friends.

Carole was a 1958 graduate of Zanesfield Monroe High School and went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree from Capitol University in Columbus.  She was a long-time member of the Zanesfield United Methodist Church where she played the organ for as long as her health would allow.  She was a Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 599 in Zanesfield and then later a member of the Harold Kerr Post 173 in Bellefontaine.  She taught in the Columbus City Schools before she was married and in later years went on to teach in the Benjamin Logan School District until her retirement. Carole, along with her late husband David, volunteered many years at the Logan County Historical Society.

Pastor Scott Miller will officiate a celebration of life memorial service Monday, August 7, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Zanesfield United Methodist Church in Zanesfield.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be at the Zanesfield Cemetery at a later date.

The staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Homes & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements.
