Caroline Smith

Caroline Louise Smith, age 78, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away at 3:10 P.M. Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Green Hills Community in West Liberty, Ohio.

She was born at home in West Liberty September 5, 1936, to the late Ralph Louis and Margaret Doris (Jones) Heater.

On June 25, 1983, she married Paul Calvin Smith and he preceded her in death October 12, 2004. She was also preceded in death by four step-children, Paul C. Smith Jr., Dennis Smith, Jerry Smith and Shawn Smith.

Caroline is survived by five step-children, Richard Smith, Harold Smith, Mary Jean Rigby, John Paul Smith and April Welch; nineteen step-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; two sisters, Esther Eileen Dean of Montgomery, Alabama and Marjorie Ellen (Vern) Shepard of Cloverdale, Ohio; four brothers, George William (Evelyn) Heater of Kennard, Ohio, James Franklin (Pat) Heater of West Liberty, Raymond Lee (Rachel) Heater of Jackson, Kentucky and Herbert Henry (Virginia) Heater of Bellefontaine, and several nieces and nephews.

Caroline had been in mission work for thirty plus years with the World Gospel Mission at Southwest Indian School in Glendale, Arizona. A devout Christian, she was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union in Bellefontaine, where she assisted with worship music and held Bible study in her home for several years.

Pastor Brad Angus will officiate the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the Church Of Christ In Christian Union in Bellefontaine. Calling hours will be held Monday, September 15, 2014 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in West Liberty and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty.

The funeral arrangements were in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in West Liberty.
