Ceola K. Vassar, 94, of Springfield, Ohio, formerly of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Friday, March 12, 2010, in the Ohio Masonic Home in Springfield. She was born in Auglaize County November 20, 1915, a daughter of the late Clyde and Oma Burden Vermillion.
On February 26, 1939, she married Donald R. Vassar in Bellefontaine and he died in 1997. She was preceded in death by a brother, Kermit Vermillion; and a sister Marjorie Tracy.
Survivors include a son, David L. (Judith) Vassar of Bellefontaine; and several nieces and nephews.
A sales clerk for Buchenroth’s in Bellefontaine for many years, she was a longtime active member of the First Lutheran Church of Bellefontaine. She and her husband enjoyed traveling as members of the National Camping Travelers Club.
Pastor Jonathon Bull will conduct a memorial service at 4:30 P.M. Friday, March 19, 2010, at the First Lutheran Church in Bellefontaine, where calling is one hour prior to the service. Burial is at a later date in the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio.
As were her wishes, her body was donated to The Ohio State University for anatomical research.
