Charles Robert Hemmer, 92, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Thursday evening, June 30, 2011 at the Campbell House in Bellefontaine. Bob was born in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Charles and Cora Whittlinger Hemmer September 25, 1918.
Bob was a graduate of St. Nicholas High School in Zanesville and married Mary Ruth Geyer October 17, 1942 in St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Zanesville, Ohio. She preceded him in death January 25, 1989. He was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church where he was the choir director for many years. Bob retired as a general foreman from DAB Industries and was an avid golfer.
Bob is survived by three sons: C. Robert (Sandy) Hemmer of Bellefontaine, Gregory S. (Steff) Hemmer of Lima,
Ohio, and Mark Allen (Kim) Hemmer of Huntsville, Ohio; three daughters: Susan Kaylor (Chris) Sherk of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Kathy (Richard) Martin of Urbana, Ohio, and Rebecca Becky (Leslie) McDonald of Bellefontaine; fourteen grandchildren, twenty eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; a brother James Hemmer of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two sisters, Mary Ann Baker and Theresa Hemmer, both of Zanesville. Bob was also preceded in death by a son Peter Jeffrey Hemmer, a brother Karl Hemmer and a sister Rita Todd.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at the St. Patricks Catholic Church in Bellefontaine at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. Patrick Sheridan officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Bellefontaine.
The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with arrangements.
