Charles E. Neal, 82, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Heartland of Bellefontaine.
He was born December 20, 1930, in West Liberty, Ohio, a son of the late Guy and Alma (Wagner) Neal. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tina M. Gressner; two daughter in laws, Pam Neal and Sheila Neal; two sisters and three brothers.
In 1953, he married Doris E. “Tonie”, and she survives along with a daughter, Diana (Steve) Sherrick of West Mansfield, Ohio; sons, Ed (Linda) Neal of Lewistown, Ohio, Larry Neal of Quincy, Ohio, Jerry Neal of Bellefontaine, and Allen Neal of Bellefontaine; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a sister, Reetha Lowe of Bellefontaine and a brother, Harry Merle (Betty) Neal of Bellefontaine.
Charles worked at Carter Steel in Bellefontaine, and was a decorated United States Army Veteran of the Korean War.
A man that fought for our country, received the purple heart, raised a family, stayed married for sixty years, was a husband, brother, dad, grandpa and friend and at times a little kid. You will forever be in our hearts, we will never forget you as we walk across this bridge that nobody puts ropes on.
Pastor Brandon Storm will officiate a graveside service at 11 A.M. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio with military services by the Logan County Honor Guard.
The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements.
