Chester S. Marker, 82, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012 in the emergency room at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine. He was born July 26, 1929 in Bellefontaine, a son of the late Ora F. and Bessie (Farmer) Marker.
On December 13, 1972 in Mt. Victory, Ohio, he married Joyce D. (Galyk) Patterson and she preceded him in death March 13, 2004. Also preceding him in death was an infant son, James Elwood Marker, brothers, Orval, Jr., James, Lester and Paul; sister, Edith Wilson and his step-mother, Ruth Lyons.
He is survived by daughters, Deborah K. Austin and Pamela S. (Tim) Hill both of Bellefontaine; sons, Timothy Marker and Thomas A. (Paula) Marker both of Bellefontaine, Brian K. Marker of Sevierville, Tennessee and Jeffery A. Marker of Greensburg, Indiana; 4 grandchildren, Nicholas Scott, Christopher Reed, Gregory William and Jennifer Lynn; 4 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Addison, Lolo and Micco; a sister, Mary Katherine “Peach” Sheeley of Bellefontaine and his twin brother, Charles Marker of Celina, Ohio.
He was a truck driver with Super Foods where he retired after forty three years of service.
Chester was a Unites States Army Veteran, a life member of the Bellefontaine Lions Club and the Logan County Fish & Game. He enjoyed playing cards, cooking out, eating fish on Fish Friday with his family and especially his dogs, Chipper and Daisy.
Donald Newlon will officiate the funeral service Friday, January 20, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where calling hours are Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. where a Lions’ Club service will be held at 8:00 P.M. Interment will be at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio with military rites by the Logan County Honor Guard.
