Christine Ruth McGowan

Christine McGowan, 95, of Jackson Center, passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Grand Lake Healthcare Center in St. Marys, Ohio. She was born in Jackson Center, Ohio on October 25, 1929, a daughter of the late Howard M. Burke and Wilda Ruth (Shultz) Burke.

On June 26, 1948, Christine married Walter Dale “Mac” McGowan, and he preceded her in death on August 3, 2011. 

Christine is survived by her son, Terry McGowan of Jackson Center; a granddaughter, Sara (Bevan Highley) McGowan of Celina; two great grandchildren, Jessica (Robby) Thomes, and Taylor Highley; five great great grandchildren; and close friends, Patricia (Dan) Weimert of Jackson Center. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Kathy Burns.

Christine graduated from Jackson Center High School in 1948. While in school she sang in a trio with Lois Mann and Wanda Kaufman. Christine retired from Stolly’s where she worked as an inspector and packer and was a former member of the Jackson Center V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, counted cross stitch, and working in her yard.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 3-7 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 214 W. Pike Street, Jackson Center. Pastor Ed Rhinehart will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5th at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson, Ohio.
