Cleta V. Horne, age 91, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Friday afternoon, April 18, 2014 at Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine.
She was born in Rushsylvania, Ohio February 26, 1923, the daughter of the late Ross and Chloe (Predmore) Rumer.
Cleta married Clarence H. “Smokey” Horne July 9, 1943 in Rushsylvania, and he preceded her in death February 7, 1985. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Carpenter; a step brother, Bud Shoemaker and a step sister, Ferd Shoemaker.
Cleta is survived by her children, Phillip (Joyce) Horne of Bellefontaine, Fred (Beverly) Horne of Bellefontaine, Robin (Judy) Horne of Russells Point, Ohio and Shirley (Clark) Dandera of Lakeview, Ohio; eleven grandchildren; three step grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; two step sisters, Edna Moore of Newcomerstown and Peggy Shoemaker of South Carolina, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She worked as a homemaker and enjoyed crafts, sewing and crossword puzzles. She loved fishing, yard sales, and Bingo. She really enjoyed watching old movies.
Pastor Jim Ellington will officiate a memorial service Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 10:00 A.M. at the Indian Lake Community Church in Russells Point. Interment will be at the Rushsylvania Cemetery in Rushsylvania. Friends may call to the church one hour prior to Saturday’s service.
The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements.
