Constance L. Smith

Constance L. Smith, age 65, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at The Ohio State University Hospital East in Columbus, Ohio.

Connie was born in Marion, Ohio January 9, 1952, to Donald J. and Helen “Kitty” (Sewell) Newell. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald J. Newell; a son, Colin Kelly; a daughter, Connie Marie; a granddaughter, Hattie Grace and a brother, Donald John Newell.

Connie is survived by her husband Dick Smith whom she married June 15, 1980 in Logan County. She is also survived by children, Dessire P. Harp of West Liberty, Ohio, Richard A. Smith of Bellefontaine, DeAnn M. Smith of West Liberty, and Dustin M. (Courtney) Smith of Columbus; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her mother, Helen “Kitty” Newell of Marion; siblings, Ben (Linda) Newell of Columbus, Russell (Regina) Newell of Marion, Ray (Kathy Newman) Newell of Marion, Maxine Berkshire of Jacksonville, Florida, Sam (Lynda) Newell of Marion, Cindy (Ray) Boyd of Marion, Mitzi (Tom) Coate of Roundhead, Ohio, Donna (Todd) Reynolds of Green Camp, Ronald Newell of Marion, Sylvia (Gerald) Austin of Greensboro, North Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews.

Connie was a graduate of Marion Harding High School and a former member of the Marion Eagles. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

Visitation will be held  Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the First Friends Church in Bellefontaine.

Pastor Sam Newell will officiate the funeral service Thursday, January 4, 2018 at noon at the Trinity Baptist Church in Marion, Ohio, where visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.

Burial will follow the funeral service in the Marion Cemetery.

The staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine is handling the arrangements.
