Curtis E. “Gene” Compton 60, of DeGraff, Ohio, passed away Friday, January 17, 2014 at Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
He was born January 27, 1953, in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Arlie and Louise (Holstein) Compton. Also preceding him in death was his first wife, Rosemary Keck; his second wife, Ruth Smith; and sisters, Mamie “Jewell” Burgess and Mary Magdeline Morgan.
Gene is survived by his siblings, Patricia Ray of Belle Center, Ohio, Charles (Levern) Compton of Irondale, Missouri and Glen (Wanda) Compton of West Mansfield, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Arlene Smith of West Liberty, Ohio and Betty Wilcoxen of DeGraff, Ohio; a nephew, Dan Dickinson and numerous other nephew and nieces.
A semi-truck driver and a United States Army Veteran after serving in the Vietnam War, Gene was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union in Bellefontaine.
Pastor Brad Angus will officiate a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 23, 2014, at the Church of Christ in Christian Union in Bellefontaine with military honors by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements.
