D. Ernest Lehman, 76, of West Liberty, Oho, died Saturday, October 18, 2008, at his residence. He was born in Logan County on January 22, 1932, a son of the late Daniel E. and Ruth Baumgartner Lehman. On August 24, 1958, he married the former Shirley M. Yoder at the South Union Mennonite Church in West Liberty, and she survives, along with a son, David Alan (Ruth) Lehman of Towner, Colorado; a brother, Joel A. (Donna) Lehman of West Liberty; four sisters, Hilda (Wilfred) Yoder and Mary Yoder, both of West Liberty, Ruth Ann Lehman of Pittsburgh, Pennslvania, and Phyllis (Donald) Jaquet of Fowlerville, Michigan; and eight grandchildren, Esther Lehman of South Korea, Martha and Joy Lehman, both students at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, and Dan, Mercy, Joel, Timothy and James Lehman, all of Towner. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, J. Sam Yoder.
A carpenter, he was a 1950 West Liberty High School graduate and was a member of South Union Mennonite Church. He was active in his church and surrounding community.
Pastor Howard Schmitt conducts a memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2008, at the South Union Mennonite Church, where calling is one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity and Mennonite Disaster Service.
