Dallas Ann Ritter Else, 75, passed away Friday, July 31, 2009, at her residence after a battle with cancer. Dallas was born April 27, 1934, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, to William and Ernestine Myers Ritter. She was a graduate of Bellefontaine High School and Duke University. Dallas demonstrated an interest and talent in art, literature, athletics and horseback riding. Upon graduating from college, she sailed abroad on the U.S.S. Constitution and traveled Europe for four months, returning on the R.M.S. Queen Mary.
She married Fred Hemenway Else in 1957, and after a brief residence in Dover, Delaware, returned to Bellefontaine. Dallas raised two children and became an accomplished cook and gardener. She was an avid equestrian, competing in many regional horse shows. Dallas found joy in entertaining family and friends and watching classic movies.
In 1988, she moved to Columbus, Ohio, where she was active in many local groups, including the Liberty Presbyterian Church, Duke University Alumni, and the Rocky Fork Ramblers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, William O. “Bill” Ritter Jr.
Survivors include a daughter, Lili (Lindsey) McCutchan of Scottsdale, Arizona; son, Britt (Lee Ann) of Atlanta, Georgia; and five grandchildren Samantha, Sophia and Andrew McCutchan and Olivia and Veronica Else.
A memorial service will be conducted August 3, 2009, at 1 P.M., at the Liberty Presbyterian Church 7080 Olentangy River Rd. Delaware, Ohio 43015-9208. Viewing hours will be Monday August 3, 2009, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at 11 A.M. in the Bellefontaine Cemetery.
