Biography

Daniel L. “Buss” Burch, 83, of Lewistown passed away at 9:32 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Wapakoneta Manor in Wapakoneta, Ohio.

Born February 4, 1932 near Pleasant Hill in Miami County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Virgil and Grace (Miller) Burch.

He married Cheryl (Hill) Burch on November 10, 1974 and she survives along with his four sons; M. Doug (Kay) Burch of Jackson Center, Dan Jr. (Marcia) Burch of Lewistown, V. Gale Burch of Anna and Tim (Holly) Burch of Lewistown; a daughter, Joyce (Ron) Carr of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; 12 grandchildren, Josh Burch, Chad (Jill) Burch, Justin Burch, Dawn (Ryan) Scott, Rachel (Andrew) Gernert, Andrew Burch, Rebecca (Grant) Gehret, Tim Burch Jr., Jeremy Burch, and Erin, Jessie and Miranda Carr; four great grandchildren, Olivia & Aidan Burch and Bryson & Sam Scott; two sisters-in-law, Janice Burch and Marge Burch, both of Jackson Center; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Glenn (Ruby) Burch, Kenneth (Marge) Burch, Bill (Tiny) Burch, Dick Burch and Marvin Burch; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Etoil Burch, Gladys (Al) Millat and Thelma (Charlie) Collins; and a beloved daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Burch.

Buss was a lifetime farmer and also retired as an inspector at Master Swaging in Jackson Center. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Jackson Center, a Past Master and 46 year member of Indian Lake Lodge #722 Free & Accepted Masons, member of A.A. Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton and the Antioch Shrine of Dayton.

The love of his life was his wife, children, and grandchildren that brought him so much joy. He especially enjoyed traveling the country with his wife, as well as hunting and fishing with his son, friends and grandsons and all the vacation trips with the grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 214 W. Pike Street, Jackson Center with a Masonic Service beginning at 8:00 p.m. Pastor Kent Hollis will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 26th at the Grace Lutheran Church, 607 S. Main Street, Jackson Center with visitation one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson, Ohio.
