David T. Green, Sr., 68, passed away after an extended battle with cancer Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 5:25 A.M. at his home. He was born in Ashland, Ohio December 5, 1943, a son of the late C. Dale and Gertrude (Evert) Green. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine (Krempel) Green in 1982.
On May 6, 1983 in New Washington, Ohio, he married the former Kristen Nelson and she survives along with daughters, Lisa (Brian) Wurm of Bloomville, Ohio, Abigail (Larry) May of Westerville, Ohio, Megan (David) Guerriero of Dayton, Ohio; sons, David (Cathy) Green, Jr. of Shelby, Ohio, Eric (Emily) Green of Worthington, Ohio; eleven grandchildren, Jared, Evan, Austin, Darren Wurm, Jordan & Logan Green, Noah & Alexis May, Colin Wallace and Aidan & Madeline Guerriero; a brother, Charles (Pam) Green of Grants Pass, Oregon and a special family friend, Janet Forster.
He began his grocery career with Kroger's in the Bellefontaine and Marysville stores. In 1980, he purchased the I.G.A. grocery store in New Washington, Ohio. In 1999, he relocated to the Logan County area where he managed the Mad River Farm Market in West Liberty, Ohio, and last worked for Acosta Merchandising prior to his retirement.
David was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Bellefontaine. He was a family man who loved to attend his children and grandchildren’s sporting events and enjoyed working outside in the yard.
Calling hours are Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Calling hours will also be held from Noon to 2 P.M. Friday, January 27, 2012, at the Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home in Ashland, Ohio, where the funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. with Pastor Jonathan Bull officiating. Interment will be at the Ashland Cemetery in Ashland, Ohio.
